On 2 May 2024, an 18-year-old cyclist was brutally attacked while riding along Whalebone Lane South, Dagenham. Caleb Wallace, Hayat Umar, and Joshua Amoaka jumped out of a vehicle and chased the victim. The victim collided with a pedestrian while trying to escape, after which Umar shot him at point-blank range with a sawn-off shotgun, while Wallace stabbed him with a machete. Amoaka was seen standing nearby.

Who are the attackers and what were their sentences?

Caleb Wallace, 18, from Dagenham, and Hayat Umar, 18, from Barking, were both convicted of attempted murder, possession of a firearm, and possession of a knife. They were each sentenced to 19 years in prison. Joshua Amoaka, 18, from Chelmsford, was sentenced to 9 years for grievous bodily harm and possession of a firearm and knife.
