A team of Year 13 students from Brook Sixth Form & Academy recently became the youngest team ever to compete in the prestigious Red Bull Soapbox Race. The event attracted teams from leading organisations, major brands and Premier League football clubs, including Aston Villa, Fulham, Everton and Crystal Palace. Despite being the youngest competitors in the field, the Brook team finished 16th out of 52 teams and achieved a perfect 10/10 performance score from the judges.
What makes the achievement particularly remarkable is that the project began as an after-school club. Through months of planning, engineering, design and teamwork, the students progressed from building their concept at school to performing on one of the country’s most recognisable event stages in front of thousands of spectators.
The team represented both Brook Sixth Form & Academy and the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham with determination, resilience and professionalism throughout the competition.
