A fourth suspect has been charged with the murder of 20-year-old Jason Romeo, who was fatally stabbed in east London. The Metropolitan Police confirmed that Renaldo Roberts, 25, of Hobbs Place Estate, was arrested on Tuesday and has now been formally charged with murder. He is scheduled to appear at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.

What happened on the night of the stabbing?

The incident took place on 18 February outside an address on Bodney Road in Lower Clapton, Hackney. Emergency services were alerted shortly before 18:00 GMT following reports of a stabbing. Despite efforts by paramedics, Jason Romeo succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Who else has been charged in the case?

Three other men have already been charged with Mr Romeo’s murder. Raynolph Asante, 22, and Travis Mitchell, 21, both from Hackney, along with Rhamyah Bailey-Edwards, 21, from Walthamstow, appeared at Thames Magistrates’ Court on Monday. They have been remanded in custody and are due to appear at the Old Bailey on 3 November.

Are there any other arrests?

The police have made further arrests in connection with the investigation. A 19-year-old man was taken into custody on Wednesday on suspicion of murder and remains under police detention. Another 19-year-old who was arrested on Tuesday has been released on bail while further inquiries continue.
