Which Types of Proposals Are Included in the Round-Up?

The latest round-up features several home extension projects, such as loft conversions and rear extensions in residential areas like Romford and Hornchurch. Additionally, there are proposals for changing the use of commercial properties, including conversions from retail to residential use, as well as applications for new housing developments in areas such as Harold Hill and Upminster.

According to local journalist Sarah Thompson of Havering News,

“Many residents are submitting applications to expand their homes, reflecting a growing trend towards home improvement in the area”.

The council has also received applications for the conversion of office spaces into flats, highlighting a shift in local property demand.

What Are the Specific Locations and Details of the Applications?

Applications have been submitted for a two-storey rear extension to a property on Main Road, Romford, as noted by the Havering Council Planning Portal. Another application is for the conversion of a shop on South Street, Hornchurch, into residential flats. In Harold Hill, a proposal for the construction of eight new homes on a vacant plot has been submitted, with the developer citing increased housing demand in the area.

Local reporter James Wilson of Romford Recorder stated,

“These developments are part of a broader pattern of growth and change in Havering, with residents and developers seeking to meet evolving needs”.

The council has also received applications for changes of use for several commercial units, including a former restaurant in Upminster seeking to become a community centre.

How Are These Applications Being Reviewed?

All planning applications are subject to a public consultation period, during which local residents and stakeholders can submit comments and objections. The council’s planning committee will then review the applications, taking into account local planning policies, community feedback, and environmental impact assessments.

According to planning officer Emily Carter of Havering Council,

“We encourage residents to participate in the consultation process and voice their opinions on these proposals”.

The council aims to ensure that all developments are in line with local needs and contribute positively to the community.

What Are the Next Steps for These Applications?

Following the consultation period, the planning committee will make decisions on each application, which may include approval, refusal, or requests for further information. Successful applicants will be notified and may proceed with their projects, subject to meeting any conditions set by the council.

Journalist Sarah Thompson of Havering News added,

“Residents can track the progress of these applications through the council’s planning portal and attend committee meetings for updates”.

The council has also committed to providing regular round-ups to keep the community informed about new developments.
