Metropolitan Police officers responded to reports of a serious assault on Cherry Tree Lane shortly after 5.30am on Friday, March 29. Emergency services arrived to find a man suffering from stab wounds. He was taken to hospital in a critical condition. According to police, his condition improved by the following day.

A cordon was put in place near the junction of Cherry Tree Lane and Rainham Road, as officers launched an investigation.
