To mark a year since Tower Hamlets Community Housing (THCH) joined the Hyde Group, Hyde have reopened the newly refurbished Minerva Community Centre and welcomed the community back into the improved space.
The reopening follows improvement work carried out as part of our wider investment in the area since April 2025. The centre has been fully redecorated, including new flooring, a new kitchen and new bathrooms.
Community groups, customers and staff came together to celebrate the reopening, enjoying food, music and plenty of activities for families. Customers could also get help from staff with MyAccount and speak to their local Neighbourhoods team.
Group Chief Executive of the Hyde Group, Andy Hulme, said:
“The reopening of the Minerva Community Centre is another important step in strengthening our local presence in Tower Hamlets and supporting the people who live here.”
“By investing in centres like this, we’re making sure the places that bring people together and offer practical support close to home get the investment they deserve.”
“It’s great to see the community enjoying the centre again and we’re looking forward to working with our partners to make the most of the space.”
Hyde have invested over £1 million in community centres in Tower Hamlets. This is part of their commitment to invest £60 million over the first five years of THCH joining Hyde. We have now completed works at Tarling East, Minerva, and Zander Court centres. Works at the two smaller community spaces, Wodeham Gardens and Hanbury Street, are due to finish shortly.
