A 21-year-old man has died following a stabbing in south-east London, prompting a murder investigation by the Metropolitan Police. Emergency services were called to Hillingdon Street in Kennington at 9.16pm on Monday, 14 April, after receiving reports of a stabbing. Officers from the Metropolitan Police arrived alongside London Ambulance Service crews and found a young man suffering from stab injuries. Despite urgent medical intervention, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Where did the stabbing take place?

The incident occurred on Hillingdon Street, a residential area in Kennington, which falls under the borough of Lambeth in south-east London. The street was immediately cordoned off as a crime scene following the emergency response.

What did police say about the incident?

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police confirmed:

“On Monday, April 14, at 9.16pm, police were called to Hillingdon Street, Camberwell, following reports of a stabbing.

Officers attended the scene alongside the London Ambulance Service who treated a 21-year-old man for stab injuries.

Sadly, despite their best efforts, he was pronounced dead on scene. Enquiries are ongoing and we are working to locate his next of kin.”

The statement indicated that no arrests had been made at the time of reporting, and that enquiries continue.

Has the victim been identified?

As of now, the identity of the 21-year-old victim has not been publicly released, pending efforts to locate and inform his next of kin.

What is the police appeal?

Detectives are urging anyone who witnessed the stabbing or has any information—including dashcam or mobile footage—to contact police.

“If you saw anything, or have any information then please contact police via 101 stating CAD7392/14APR,” the spokesperson added.

Alternatively, members of the public can remain anonymous by contacting Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

What happens next?

A post-mortem examination is expected to be carried out in due course. Investigators will also continue forensic examinations and review CCTV footage in the area as part of their inquiries.
