What happened during the crash on New Road, Dagenham?

According to the Metropolitan Police, the crash involved a 10-year-old child and their 35-year-old mother, both of whom were walking along the busy road when they were struck by a vehicle. The rush hour incident occurred close to McDonald’s on New Road, a highly trafficked area in Dagenham.
