Wednesday 6th May 2026 – A Leyton Orient fan secured £10,000 after winning the BetWright Bangers N’ Cash Crossbar Challenge during The O’s 2-2 draw with Burton Albion on Saturday’s final day of the League One season.
Orient supporter Georgia Wallis became the first fan to hit the crossbar since Graham Pringle in January, bringing an end to a long run of near-misses in the popular half-time competition at the BetWright Stadium.
Launched at the start of the season with a £3,000 jackpot, the BetWright Bangers N’ Cash Crossbar Challenge pot increased by £1,000 with each home fixture that went by without a winner – with Graham the only other winner throughout the season. Following Graham’s triumph, the prize fund started back at £1,000 for Orient’s next home match, increasing again by £1,000 with each passing home game.
Heading into the final game of the campaign, it represented the last opportunity for a supporter to claim the £10,000 prize, and Georgia delivered under pressure to spark wild celebrations around the ground.
Georgia Wallis said:
“As soon as I hit the ball, I thought – yeah, that’s the one! I’m absolutely buzzing! It felt really good – I thought I was going to fall over, so not doing that is a win in itself!
“My dad entered himself to do it every week and was never successful, then when he finally got the email he said, ‘I’m not doing it – you’re doing it’, so I had to step up!”
Yarry Troshchey of BetWright, said:
“We’ve had some unfortunate near-misses since Graham’s win earlier in the season, so it was fantastic to see Georgia finally step up and deliver on the final day of the campaign at the BetWright Stadium.
“To do so with the pressure of it being the last chance of the season makes it even more impressive, and it’s exactly the kind of moment the BetWrightBangers N’ Cash Crossbar Challenge is all about.
“We’re delighted for Georgia to take home the £10,000 prize and round off the season in style.”
As part of the competition, participating supporters are initially given one attempt to hit the crossbar. Should they miss that they are then offered the chance to pick one of three cards, two of which offer a consolation prize, with the other card providing a second attempt.
