Community Action Redbridge’s Redbridge Cooking Connections delivered its first interactive cooking session with service users from a local drug and alcohol support charity in Redbridge. Held on Thursday 7 May, the session brought together six service users from diverse multicultural backgrounds, spanning a range of ages and genders.
Focused on promoting wellbeing, confidence, and social connection through food, the session encouraged participants to cook together in a welcoming and supportive environment. The group selected mushroom and chickpea pilaf as their chosen dish, creating a collaborative experience that celebrated healthy eating on a budget.
Redbridge Food Partnership kindly supplied a resource kit for each service user, containing useful kitchen essentials which participants made use of during the cooking session and will continue to use at home.
The session marks the start of a positive partnership aimed at using cooking as a pathway to engagement, inclusion, and independent living, as well as community connection across Redbridge.
