The University of East London (UEL) is delighted to invite local residents, families, educators and community members to a special book presentation on Tuesday, 3 November 2026, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m., at its Docklands Campus.
Organised as part of the Coffee and Research Beans initiative, the event will welcome Dr Alexandra Onisie, author of Let Me Be a Child: A Powerful Reflection for Busy Parents to Reconnect with Their Kids.

Through relatable stories, personal reflections and practical advice, the book explores the challenges of modern family life, encouraging adults to see the world through children’s eyes, better understand their emotions and strengthen the connections that shape their development and wellbeing.
Although primarily written for parents, the book’s message extends far beyond parenting. It offers valuable insights for grandparents, educators, carers and anyone who works with, supports or plays a role in children’s lives. At its heart is a simple but powerful message: meaningful relationships begin with listening, understanding and being present.
The event will provide a welcoming space for open conversations about family relationships, children’s wellbeing, work–life balance and the importance of meaningful connections.
Attendees will have the opportunity to engage directly with the author, ask questions, share experiences and reflect on everyday challenges and opportunities.
Founded by Dr Luana Parisi, Senior Lecturer at UEL, Coffee and Research Beans promotes social sustainability, inclusion and dialogue, bringing together academics, professionals and wider communities to explore issues that shape our everyday lives. This special session broadens the conversation to the importance of supporting families, recognising caring responsibilities and fostering a more inclusive and supportive society.
The book presentation will be followed by light refreshments, informal networking and a book-signing session with the author, offering attendees the opportunity to continue the conversation and connect with others in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
Everyone is welcome! Whether you are a parent, grandparent, teacher, carer or simply interested in children’s wellbeing, we would love to have you join us.
The event will take place at The Lounge (WB.G.01), University of East London, Docklands Campus, with the option to join the presentation online.
