Who is Kara Alexander and What Was She Convicted Of?

DAGENHAM – A woman from Cornwallis Road, Dagenham, has been convicted of crime of the murder of her two young children.

Kara Alexander, 47, was found guilty at Kingston Crown Court on February 21 and will be sentenced on April 11.


What Happened on the Day of the Incident?

On December 16, 2022, emergency services were called to an address in Cornwallis Road at 2pm, where they discovered the bodies of Elijah Thomas (2) and Marley Thomas (5) in their shared bunkbed. The tragic discovery was made by their father.


What Was the Cause of Death?

A post-mortem examination determined that both boys died due to interference with the normal mechanics of breathing, which included smothering and/or immersion in water.


What Actions Did Kara Alexander Take?

Following the deaths, Alexander fled the address but was arrested nearby a short while later. She was subsequently charged and stood trial at Kingston Crown Court.


What Happens Next?

Kara Alexander is due to be sentenced on April 11, where she will face a prison term for the murder of her two children.
