Family Tribute for Man Killed in Silvertown Double Stabbing in East London

A man who died following a double stabbing in East London has been described by his family as someone with a “beautiful spirit and remarkable talent” as police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal attack.

The victim, identified as 35-year-old Mark Orabiyi, was found critically injured in the garden of a property in Silvertown on Friday morning after emergency services were called to reports of a violent incident. He was later taken to hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival due to the severity of his injuries.

The incident also left another man injured, who was discovered with stab wounds at the same location. He was transported to hospital and remains under medical care. Authorities have confirmed that his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

The stabbing prompted a major police response across the area of Silvertown, with officers initially responding to reports of an attack on Pankhurst Avenue at around 09:00 BST. Orabiyi was found nearby in a garden on Rayleigh Road, where paramedics attempted emergency treatment before transferring him to hospital.

In a tribute released through the police, Orabiyi’s family remembered him as a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend. They described him as someone who brought “love, light and joy” to those around him and said his presence had a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.

The family added that they would always cherish his kindness and personality, paying tribute to his “beautiful spirit and remarkable talent,” and said his memory would remain forever in their hearts. They also asked for privacy as they come to terms with their loss.

Following the incident, three people were arrested on suspicion of murder as part of the early stages of the investigation led by the Metropolitan Police Service. However, police later confirmed that all three have since been released. A 27-year-old man was released on bail pending further inquiries, while a 24-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman were released with no further action.

Detective Chief Inspector Joanna Yorke, who is leading the investigation, described the incident as tragic and extended her condolences to the victim’s family. She said officers are continuing to work at pace to establish the full circumstances surrounding the attack.

Investigators are now appealing for members of the public to come forward with any relevant information, particularly CCTV footage, doorbell recordings, or mobile phone video captured in the area on the morning of the incident. Police believe such evidence could be crucial in helping reconstruct the timeline of events leading up to the stabbing.

The case remains under active investigation, with officers continuing to examine forensic evidence and conduct witness interviews as they work to determine what led to the violent confrontation.

Authorities have urged anyone with information, no matter how small it may seem, to contact police as inquiries continue into the fatal attack that has left one man dead and another seriously injured in East London.
