What were mimer’s crimes?

Mimer was convicted for the sexual abuse of a young girl, who was between the ages of seven and nine, in the mid-2000s. The abuse took place at an address in Poplar, East London, as well as in a vehicle Mimer owned. The victim came forward in 2016, disclosing the abuse to her mother, which led to Mimer’s arrest and subsequent conviction.

How did mimer respond to the charges?

Initially denying the charges, Mimer later changed his plea halfway through his trial. He admitted guilt to multiple charges, including two counts of raping a child under the age of 13, one charge of sexual activity with a child under 13, and two charges of causing a child to engage in sexual activity. His trial brought to light the extent of his predatory behaviour.

What did the police say about mimer?

Detective Constable Neil Golding, who led the investigation into Mimer’s crimes, described him as a “predatory paedophile” and expressed concerns that Mimer may have committed additional offences. Golding encouraged other potential victims of Mimer to come forward, urging them to contact the police.

What happened after mimer’s conviction?

Following his conviction, Mimer was sentenced to 18 years in prison for his crimes. However, his life behind bars was cut short when he died in HMP Littlehey on March 26, 2025. Authorities are still investigating the circumstances of his death.

What is being done about mimer’s death?

The Prisons & Probation Ombudsman has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mimer’s death at HMP Littlehey. It is standard procedure for the Ombudsman to investigate deaths in custody to ensure that the appropriate care and treatment were provided to prisoners.
