Frankie Burleston, age 25, and Swayf Amana, age 27, were found guilty by the jury at Snaresbrook Crown Court, on Wednesday the 29th of October 2025. The pair were found guilty for the murder of 23-year-old Haseeb Bhatti, and for causing bodily harm with intent to another man at the scene of the crime. (Met Police)

The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday the 20th April 2024, when a group of five armed men, including Frankie Burleston and Swayf Amana, attacked a group of men, including Haseeb Bhatti in Rothwell Gardens, Dagenham.

Barking and Dagenham Police were alerted in the early hours of the morning, with officers originally responding to reports of an injured 50-year-old victim with stab wounds. However, Haseeb was found nearby the scene on Flamstead Road. Despite the best efforts of the emergency services, Haseeb Bhatti died at the scene. (Met Police)

A crucial Met Police investigation followed this tragic incident, with officers investigating phone records, hundreds of hours of CCTV, and number plate data. The investigation followed enquiries into the suspects’ activity before the attack, revealing the purchase of balaclavas and gloves. The police found this to be a coordinated and pre-planned attack.

The victim’s family expressed their heartbreak in a statement to the Met Police:

“Our son was our world, and losing Haseeb has broken us completely.”

Detective Chief Inspector Lucy Carberry led the investigation and expressed her deepest condolences for the family of Haseeb Bhatti.

“My thoughts remain with the family of Haseeb, who despite losing a much-loved member of their family, have remained dignified throughout the investigation and trial,” she said. “Their lives will never be the same following the actions of Burleston and Amana.”

While the investigation comes to an end, Lucy Carberry, Detective Chief Inspector, notes that:

“The two men will now face the consequences of their actions.”

Both Frankie Burleston and Swayf Amana were found guilty by the jury on Wednesday 29th October, with their sentencing beginning on the 31st October 2025.
