East London will host the highly anticipated Creative Industries Festival 2026 from 2nd – 5th September 2026, bringing together students, creatives, educators, industry professionals, policymakers, and cultural organisations for a major celebration of creativity, collaboration, and innovation.

This year’s festival theme, “Creative Balance: Good Work, Health and Life,” explores how creativity can help people find balance across their careers, wellbeing, and personal lives while building more inclusive and sustainable industries.

As modern ways of working continue to evolve, the festival will focus on what “good work” truly means for the next generation — work that is purposeful, human-centred, healthy, and accessible to all.

Hosted across venues in Stratford and Docklands, the four-day festival will feature:

  • Industry talks and keynote speakers
  • Workshops and masterclasses
  • Networking opportunities
  • Research conferences and panel discussions
  • Community events and performances
  • A free Creative Careers Talent Fair for students and emerging creatives

One of the featured opportunities within the festival is the Freelance Tutorial Event, designed to help students and aspiring freelancers learn practical skills for building careers independently. Attendees will learn:

  • How to find freelance jobs
  • How to connect with companies and clients
  • How to build a professional freelance profile
  • How to apply successfully for freelance opportunities
  • How to turn creative skills into sustainable income opportunities

The session aims to support students and young creatives who are looking for flexible, work-from-home, and independent career pathways in today’s digital economy.

The Creative Industries Festival was created to bridge the gap between creative talent and industry by encouraging collaboration, knowledge exchange, innovation, and inclusivity.

The festival has already demonstrated significant impact in previous years, with:

  • More than 8,000 ticket registrations
  • Over 40 events annually
  • 83 industry partners participating
  • More than 60 internship and placement opportunities created for students and graduates from underrepresented backgrounds

Festival organisers are also committed to accessibility and inclusion through free student access, sensory-friendly spaces, diverse programming, equitable hiring practices, and wellbeing-focused workshops and discussions.

The 2026 edition will continue to build a long-term ecosystem for creative growth, social mobility, collaboration, and economic development across East London and beyond.
