Newham Stabbing Leaves One Dead, Two Injured as Murder Probe Begins

A murder investigation has been launched following a serious stabbing incident in East London that left one man dead and two others injured in the early hours of Friday morning.

The incident took place in the area of Newham, with emergency services first called to reports of a violent attack on Pankhurst Avenue in Silvertown at around 09:00 BST.

When police arrived at the scene, they discovered a 35-year-old man suffering from multiple stab wounds in the garden of a residential property on nearby Rayleigh Road. Despite rapid medical attention and being transported to hospital, he was later pronounced dead on arrival due to the severity of his injuries.

A second victim, a man in his 20s, was also found with multiple stab wounds sustained during the same incident. He was taken to hospital for treatment and remains in care. Authorities have confirmed that his injuries are serious but not believed to be life-threatening.

The violent attack has led to a swift response from the Metropolitan Police Service, who have since arrested three individuals in connection with the incident. Those detained include two men aged 27 and 24, and a 25 year-old woman. All three were arrested near the scene shortly after the attack and remain in custody on suspicion of murder.

Police have confirmed that the family of the deceased man has been informed and is being supported by specialist officers during this difficult time. His identity has not been publicly released.

Detective Chief Inspector Joanna Yorke from the Metropolitan Police’s Specialist Crime Command stated that officers are working at pace to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

She expressed condolences to the victim’s family and acknowledged the concern the incident is likely to cause within the local community. She also confirmed that a significant police presence remains in the area as investigations continue.

Residents in Newham have been urged to come forward with any relevant information, particularly CCTV footage, dashcam recordings, or eyewitness accounts that may assist investigators in reconstructing the events leading up to the fatal stabbing.

At this stage, the motive behind the attack has not been confirmed. Police are continuing to examine forensic evidence and speak with witnesses in order to determine what led to the violent confrontation.

The incident adds to growing concerns about knife-related crime in parts of London, with authorities continuing efforts to address serious violence across the capital.

Investigations remain ongoing, and police have stated that updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
