Television presenter and former Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson has shared a positive health update after revealing that he was diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer. The 66-year-old broadcaster confirmed that he is now officially in remission and has used his experience to urge others to prioritise early health checks.
Clarkson first disclosed his diagnosis in the latest season of Clarkson’s Farm, where viewers saw him share the news with his colleagues Kaleb Cooper and Charlie Ireland. During the emotional episodes, he explained that a medical examination and subsequent biopsy had confirmed an aggressive form of prostate cancer, although it had fortunately been detected at an early stage.
The presenter later underwent surgery to remove the affected portion of his prostate. Speaking about the diagnosis, Clarkson admitted that the news initially hit him harder than he expected and forced him to confront the possibility of a much more serious outcome had the cancer not been discovered in time.
In a recent interview, Clarkson revealed that a prostate-specific antigen (PSA) blood test conducted two months ago showed no evidence of cancer, allowing doctors to declare him in remission. He described himself as “the world’s luckiest man” and credited early detection with potentially saving his life.
The television star has become a vocal advocate for prostate cancer awareness, encouraging men to get tested even if they are not experiencing symptoms. According to Clarkson, the procedure is straightforward and could make a life-saving difference by identifying problems before the disease spreads.
His openness has also sparked a wider public conversation about men’s health. Following the release of the Clarkson’s Farm episodes, prostate cancer charities reported a substantial increase in the number of people seeking information and using online risk-checking tools. The surge highlighted the influence public figures can have in encouraging people to seek medical advice and act early.
Clarkson’s health battle comes after another serious medical issue in recent years. In 2024, he underwent a heart procedure after doctors discovered blocked arteries and fitted him with stents to improve blood flow. The presenter has since reflected on how these health scares have changed his perspective and reinforced the importance of regular medical checks.
Despite his recent challenges, Clarkson has reassured fans that he is feeling well and has already resumed work on the next season of Clarkson’s Farm. He confirmed that filming for season six is underway and joked on social media that, despite recent concerns, he is “perfectly fine.”
Prostate cancer remains one of the most common cancers affecting men in the UK. Health experts have welcomed Clarkson’s decision to share his experience publicly, saying it may encourage thousands of men to seek testing and potentially receive treatment at an earlier and more manageable stage.
