D&T Electrical Services: Trusted Family-Run Electricians in Havering and Essex

In an industry where safety, reliability and trust matter more than ever, D&T Electrical Services has built its reputation on something refreshingly simple: doing good work, treating customers honestly and putting people first. Based in the Havering/Romford area and serving Havering, Essex and Greater London, the family-run business combines more than three decades of electrical experience with a distinctly personal approach.

Established in 2021, D&T may still be a small business, but its foundations are built on extensive experience. Behind the company is electrician Dain, whose career spans more than 30 years and three countries, alongside Terri, who manages bookings, administration, accounts, customer liaison, compliance, marketing and social media.

Together, they have created a business that has grown through hard work, recommendations and repeat customers — without losing the personal service that was at the heart of the company from the beginning.

Three Decades of Electrical Experience

Dain’s journey in the electrical industry began long before D&T Electrical Services was established. Over more than 30 years, his career has taken him across the UK, Australia and Denmark, where he qualified as an electrician.

That international experience has exposed him to different electrical systems, working environments and approaches to safety and installation. It has also helped shape the practical, problem-solving approach that he brings to every job.

For Dain, electrical work is not simply about completing a task. Pride in workmanship and helping customers solve problems are central to the way he approaches his trade.

That depth of experience has become one of D&T’s defining strengths — particularly in a sector where customers need confidence that work is being carried out safely and correctly.

A Comprehensive Range of Electrical Services

Electrical work remains firmly at the centre of D&T Electrical Services, with the business supporting homeowners, landlords, letting agents, businesses and property professionals.

Its services include:

  • Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs)
  • Landlord and rental property inspections
  • Consumer unit replacements and upgrades
  • Electrical installations and remedial work
  • Fault finding and repairs
  • Emergency electrical call-outs
  • Rewires and partial rewires
  • Sockets and lighting
  • Garden and outdoor electrical work
  • Extractor and cooker fan installations
  • PAT testing
  • Electrical maintenance
  • EV charger installations
  • Electrical compliance work

The breadth of these services allows D&T to support customers with everything from individual electrical problems to ongoing property maintenance and compliance requirements.

Developing EV Charging Expertise

EV charging is another area in which the business is expanding. Dain has completed specialist EV charge point training, while D&T is progressing with relevant installer approvals, including the OZEV Authorised Installer process.

The company’s approach is not simply to install equipment and leave. Instead, the focus is on providing appropriate advice for the customer’s property and existing electrical installation before work is undertaken.

Expanding Into Property Compliance

The next chapter for D&T will see the company move beyond traditional electrical services and further into property compliance.

From September 2026, D&T plans to offer EPC assessments, while also developing compliance packages bringing together services such as EICRs, EPCs, Gas Safety Certificates, PAT testing, and smoke and carbon monoxide alarm checks.

For landlords and letting agents, the aim is straightforward: reduce the complexity of managing multiple compliance requirements by providing a reliable point of contact.

This development reflects the company’s broader ambition to become an electrical, property compliance and facilities management business, while keeping electrical work at its core.

What Makes D&T Electrical Services Different?

Perhaps the most distinctive feature of D&T is its size.

There is no large office or extensive team between the customer and the person responsible for the work. Customers deal directly with real people who understand their job and its progress.

The company places particular emphasis on being honest, explaining work clearly and avoiding pressure to undertake services that are not genuinely necessary.

That approach has helped D&T build a customer base through recommendations and repeat business. For a family-run company, those personal endorsements are especially meaningful because every recommendation represents a customer’s trust.

Safety is equally important. D&T recognises that electrical work is an area where shortcuts can have serious consequences, and the business carries out work in accordance with relevant regulations and standards, including BS 7671.

Qualifications, Registration and Recognition

D&T Electrical Services is NAPIT registered and TrustMark registered and holds £3 million public liability insurance.

Dain’s professional development has also continued well beyond his original qualifications. His additional training and CPD includes areas such as BS 7671, EV charge point installation, consumer units, RCDs, AFDD awareness, safe isolation, PAT testing, asbestos awareness, fire safety and private rented sector electrical requirements.

The business has also earned recognition within its local community. D&T was a finalist in the Havering Business Awards 2025 and has reached the final of the Havering Small Business Awards 2026 – Best Tradesperson category.

For a small family business, such recognition carries particular significance. It represents acknowledgement not only of the work being delivered, but of the company’s growing role within the local business community.

Giving Back to the Community

Community involvement is another important part of the D&T story.

The business has supported local charities and causes including Smile London & Essex and Pippa’s Army, while also supporting the Royal Liberty School basketball team with its tour to Valencia.

During winter, D&T also offers free electrical call-outs to pensioners experiencing electrical problems. Where an issue can safely be resolved during the visit, the business will often fix it without charge.

The company has also encouraged some customers to make charitable donations instead of paying for certain pieces of work.

These gestures reflect a philosophy that extends beyond commercial transactions: when the business is in a position to help, it believes helping is simply the right thing to do.

Looking Ahead Without Losing the Personal Touch

D&T Electrical Services is still growing, but its ambitions are measured. The goal is not to become a huge company at the expense of its identity.

Instead, the business wants to expand its electrical, property compliance, EPC and facilities management services while retaining the approachable and personal character that customers already value.

That balance may ultimately be D&T’s greatest asset. In a crowded trades market, technical expertise is essential, but trust is what turns a one-off job into a recommendation, and a recommendation into a lasting customer relationship.

For D&T Electrical Services, the future is about offering more without becoming less personal — building a broader service while remaining a family business customers know, understand and can rely on.
