The Bear Pop-Up in East London Gives Away 2,000 Free Sandwiches

Disney+’s hit series The Bear is bringing a slice of Chicago to East London this weekend with a special pop-up experience in Shoreditch. Fans of the award-winning drama will have the chance to enjoy one of the show’s iconic Italian-style sandwiches completely free as part of a limited-time event celebrating the latest season.

The exclusive activation will take place over two days at The Truman Brewery on Dray Walk in Shoreditch, where Disney+ is recreating the original sandwich shop featured in the first season of The Bear. Rather than recreating the show’s Michelin-star restaurant, the experience pays tribute to the humble neighbourhood beef shop where Carmy Berzatto’s story first began.

Visitors will discover a functioning kitchen hidden behind what appears to be an ordinary billboard. Once the service window opens, chefs will prepare and hand out authentic Chicago-inspired sandwiches, giving Londoners a taste of one of television’s most beloved fictional eateries.

The menu features two options. Fans can choose the signature slow-roasted Italian beef sandwich made famous in the series or opt for a roasted portobello mushroom sandwich, providing a vegan alternative for visitors. Both sandwiches will be available free of charge while supplies last.

Disney+ plans to give away 2,000 sandwiches across the weekend, with 1,000 available each day. Because demand is expected to be high, organisers are encouraging visitors to arrive early, as sandwiches will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

The pop-up opens on Sunday, June 28, with three separate serving sessions scheduled throughout the afternoon. On Monday, June 29, visitors will have another opportunity to attend, including a special appearance from a surprise guest chef during one of the service periods.

The event coincides with the return of The Bear, one of the most acclaimed television dramas in recent years. The Emmy-winning series follows talented chef Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto as he returns to Chicago to manage his late brother’s struggling sandwich shop before transforming it into a finedining restaurant. The show’s combination of fast-paced kitchen drama, emotional storytelling and memorable characters has earned widespread critical praise and a devoted international fanbase.

Choosing Shoreditch as the location reflects East London’s reputation as one of the capital’s leading destinations for food, creativity and pop culture events. The area’s independent restaurants, street food markets and vibrant arts scene make it a fitting backdrop for an immersive experience inspired by one of television’s most celebrated culinary series.

For fans, the event offers far more than free food. It provides the chance to step inside a real-life version of the sandwich shop that launched Carmy’s journey and experience the atmosphere that helped make The Bear a global success.

With only 2,000 sandwiches available and excitement building across social media, the Shoreditch pop-up is expected to attract long queues throughout the weekend. Anyone hoping to secure one of the complimentary subs should plan to arrive well before the advertised serving times.

The limited-time event highlights how television, food and live experiences continue to come together in London, giving fans new ways to connect with their favourite shows while showcasing East London as one of the city’s most exciting destinations for cultural pop-ups and immersive events.
