The ultimate guide to the best Christmas markets to shop local this festive season

With December fast approaching, let’s take a look at the festivities taking place across East London

With the festive season approaching, East London are offering Christmas markets filled with handmade gifts, seasonal food and family-friendly entertainment. So whether you’re looking to immerse yourself in the celebrations, or take the family for a day out, here are some key dates, locations and events to help you plan this festive period.

Old Spitalfields Christmas Market

Where: 16 Horner Square, London E1 6EW

When: 12th November-2nd January (varying opening hours across Christmas Bank holidays)

Spitalfields Market becomes a Christmas Village during the months of November, December and even the beginning of January, filled with chalet stalls, festive food and live music. Visitors can browse gifts from independent traders, enjoy various food and warm up with mulled wine or a hot chocolate at the festive bar.

Urban Makers Christmas Market 2025

Where: Ecology Pavilion, Mile End Park, Grove Road, London E3 4QY

WhUrban Makersen: Takes place over two weekends, November the 29th and 30th, and the 13th and 14th of December, opening between 11am-5pm each day.

The market is free to enter and welcomes various designs each day to display a range of unique and handmade items. This includes the perfect gifts, such as jewellery, candles and accessories, and even homemade Christmas gifts and decorations.

Wick Wonderland

Where: Barge East, White Post Lane, London E9 5EN

When: Every weekend from the 6th December until the 21st of December

Wick Wonderland is at the heart of the local community, bringing together businesses, artists and traders to showcase not only the Christmas spirit but also local talent.

Leytonstone Winter Trail

Where: Leytonstone Town Centre, throughout various shop windows

When: Friday 28th November- Tuesday 23rd December 2025

The perfect family day out, pick up a trail card from one of the participating businesses listed on the website, then follow the clues to find all the letters to create the special Christmas word to win a prize!

Christmas Markers’ Market

Where: Hackney Bridge, 187 Wick Road, Hackney Wick, E9 5EN

When: Throughout December

A lively combination of independent crafts, seasonal food and drink, and music. Visitors can browse unique handmade gifts from local businesses while enjoying a combination of street food and mulled wine. A perfect mix of shopping, entertainment and festive cheer.

Netil Market Conscious Christmas Market

Where: Netil Market, 9 Westgate Street, Hackney, E8 3RL

When: Saturday the 7th, 14th and 21st December, between 10am-6pm

Want to enjoy the festivities while also being conscious of the environment, well look no further. Netil House is hosting a series of sustainable events, each event showcasing a wide range of ethical gifts, eco-friendly gift makers, live music and street food.

Each event highlights the creativity, diversity and Christmas spirit across East London, by visiting you are not only enjoying the festive cheer, but also supporting local businesses and the East London community.
